The other day, a bald eagle soared into my life and landed gracefully in a nearby tree. I could not see it very well while it rested on a high limb that still clings to its rust-colored leaves of Autumn.
I watched in awe as the biggest of all birds capable of flight flew away with ease and grace.
Why did I just see you? What do you have to teach me? Where are you going? Whose spirit are you carrying?
With curiosity and enthusiasm I took to the Internet in search of answers to my questions.
Q: Why did this symbol of majesty literally and figuratively fly into my life?
A: Because I need encouragement. I need confirmation that I am on the right path. I need a sign that is so big and obvious that I can’t possibly miss it or misinterpret it.
I got it. Thank you!
Q: What lessons am I to learn?
A: I must have patience and be willing to sit quietly and observe all that is happening around me. I must have confidence in my own skills and abilities that I can “fly” higher than I can possibly imagine. Sometimes, I need to look at things and see opportunities from high above, from a broader perspective. At times, I need to use swiftness and strength to capture and hold on to opportunities so that they don’t slip away.
That’s an awful lot to ask for, but I guess being the King Of The Skies doesn’t come easily.
Q: Where are you going, or more importantly, where am I going?
A: I know I am heading in the right direction, but I got off course. I need to adjust my path so that I can have the wind at my back and not in my face. I need to glide in a tailwind and not expend precious energy fighting a headwind. At times, I need to find an equal balance between the two and just hover.
Q: Whose spirit are you carrying?
A: As the highest flying birds, eagles have a unique capability. In many cultures, they are believed to carry messages from the heavens, spirit world, and gods and deliver them to us here on Earth. They can carry our earthly hopes, dreams, and aspirations and deliver them to our angels.
Were you my brother, Matthew? An archangel? A guardian angel? I guess it doesn’t really matter. Thank you for watching over me!

It is my hope that nature/spirit will soon fly into your vision and guide you toward the nearest tailwind of life.
Be Kind. Be Thankful. Be Significant.
