We have all heard the quote that goes something like “…if a window of opportunity closes, then another window will open…” I’ve recently put myself on a life path of new adventures and opportunities.
I searched for a new window of opportunity. Suprisingly, I found exactly what I was looking for. I peeked inside and initially liked what I saw. Much to my surprise, the window opened slightly and I was able to take a better look inside. “Hmmm, it’s not quite as attractive on the inside as I thought.” I left the window open and began peeking in the other nearby windows, all of which had been closed. Some were dirty, some were sparkling clean, some were vintage and some were fairly new. Maybe the inside looked a little better, you know from a different perspective. I wondered how much effort it would take to open one of the closed windows.
Unfortunately, and despite my efforts, I have found the other windows to be jammed shut. And no one is offering to open them. It’s a bit of a bummer. What should I do? should I wait patiently for someone to open the windows. Or, should I explore the open window a little further, knowing that something just doesn’t feel right. The answer… This morning, I closed the open window which was not an easy decision. I thought about Berle’s quote. Maybe, a window is too small. Maybe I SHOULD build a door. And that is precisely what I am going to do. I’m no carpenter. In fact, I’ve been told that I don’t know the right end of a hammer. However, I am going to try and put in the effort. And when I’m done building the door of opportunity you better believe I will be knocking!
Be Kind. Be Thankful. Be Significant.
